French Onion Soup

French Onion SoupRating: Easy

Serving : 4 to 6 People

Ingredients

  • 14oz of onions (400g)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1.3 Litre of beef stock
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of cognac
  • 1 Baguette (or any kind of bread for the croutons)
  • Swiss cheese

Preparation

  • Slice the onions
  • Pour the olive oil into a saucepan
  • Slowly cook the onions
  • Add the beef stock and the Cognac
  • Let it cook for about 20mins
  • Cut some slices of bread
  • Pour some olive oil onto a large baking tray and add crushed garlic
  • Turn the bread over on the tray whilst cooking for 25mins in the oven

Pour the soup into a bowl, top it with croutons and add the grated cheese on top!
